Tatyana Krasnik joined the firm as an intern in 1995 while a
Criminal Justice Major on a scholarship to St. John's University. Tanya, as she is
known throughout the Russian community, emigrated from the then Soviet Union and was
quickly integrated into Russian American Society. She saw that Russians in the
Metropolitan New York area were ignored in terms of their importance to our society and as
a consequence were under represented by the legal profession. With the exception of
Sandback Birnbaum and Michelen there were few law firms that seemed interested in the
needs of the Russian Community. She soon realized that Sandback, Birnbaum and
Michelen allowed her to learn the law and assist members of her community. Although
she became a full time member of the firm's staff in 1996, she continued to maintain a
full course schedule at St. John's. Her performance in College as a Criminal Justice
Major was so superior that she found herself on the Dean's List every semester despite the
fact the English was her second language. Only two years after joining the firm, she became Administrative Assistant to Mr. Donald H. Birnbaum, the managing partner of the law firm. Ms. Krasnik has worked in both the civil and criminal department of the law firm and has dealt with virtually every type of criminal and civil case imaginable all under the direct supervision of a senior attorney with the firm. On a daily basis she deals with assistant district attorneys and detectives attached to police departments all over the United States and abroad. Because of her fluency in Russian and English and her knowledge of the judicial system she has become a vital part of Sandback, Birnbaum and Michelen. While she continues her affiliation with the firm, she intends to make even further progress in law by attending Law School, receiving her Juris Doctor degree and by being admitted to the New York State and Federal Bars. |
